The nation’s automakers have been experiencing breaks in production since a small firm that manufactures key parts for auto engines went on strike.
The labor union of Yoosung Enterprise went on strike last Wednesday after its labor and management failed to narrow differences on work shift systems.
Two days after the stoppage at Yoosung, Kia Motors Corporation’s plant in Sohari, Gyeonggi Province was forced to halt its production lines for Carnival minivans.
On Sunday, Hyundai Motor Company’s plant in Ulsan, South Gyeongsang Province saw production suspended of its Porter pickup trucks and Santa Fe sport utility vehicles.
Other automakers, including GM Korea and Renault Samsung Motors, are also expected to suffer similar halts in their production.
The strike has raised concerns over prolonged operation disruptions and the potential impact on the nation’s car exports.
