The 22nd World Congress of Dermatology opened in Seoul Tuesday for a six-day run.
Known as the Olympics of dermatology, the congress will be attended by 12-thousand dermatologists and industry officials from 100 countries.
During the congress, German virologist and 2008 Nobel laureate in Physiology and Medicine Harald zur Hausen will give a lecture on ways to prevent cancer triggered by virus infections through vaccination.
Korean-American scientist Park In-hyun, who was the first in the world to create a versatile stem cell using skin cells, will also speak about skin stem cells.
The congress is held every four years and generates high economic effects. South Korea is the second country in Asia to host the event, following Japan in 1982.
The event is under way at the Convention and Exhibition Center or COEX in southern Seoul.
