A gathering of parliamentary leaders from the G20 member nations and six other nations will open at the National Assembly in Seoul on Thursday.
The G20 Speakers’ Consultation will see the participation of speakers from 14 countries and vice speakers from 12 countries.
Participants will hold debates on development and growth toward joint prosperity and ways to promote parliamentary cooperation in fighting terrorism and pursuing world peace.
Also during the meeting, leaders will seek ways for developing countries to make advancements based on developed countries’ experiences. The meeting will also touch on the role parliaments should play in promoting international cooperation toward joint growth in the wake of the global financial crisis.
At the end of the meeting, parliamentary leaders are expected to adopt a joint statement.
