Fair Alternative Art and Design “Road Art 77” will be held until June 12 in the Village of Arts Hairy Pachzhu in Gyeonggi Province.
Fair got its name from the state highway 77, also known as Chayuro or road of freedom, which connects Seoul to Gyeonggi Province.
At the Fair in the village of Hairy, which was first held in 2009, now has 12 art galleries including the Art Factory Gallery and Kymsan. They represent the work of 77 new artists.
It also presents works by 26 renowned artists, including Ben-y Bae, a special exhibition of furniture and works of young authors from Daegu.
New section of Fair Handicrafts and artworks of 77 students’ work demonstrates the School of Design, Rhode Island, who participated in a series of lectures “Pochzhagi and behind them” («Pojagi and Beyond», pochzhagi – wrapping cloth), who read a textile artist Korean-Lee Chhunhi.
Art Fair is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism, the city Pachzhu and other organizations. The proceeds will be transferred to an international nonprofit organization Save the Children, which works to protect the rights of children around the world. Entrance fee to the fair is 4,000 won.
Village Arts Hairy – a kind of art center, where shops are concentrated, concert halls, galleries, museums, bookstores and cafes. Live here and create their works of art, some of the most famous artists, architects, musicians and writers Korea. The village, located just an hour’s drive from Seoul, provides an opportunity to enjoy nature and art.
